Well, looks like someone already beat me by far to it..

Engineering and Technology Careers are Not Valued - Singapore is “High Cost Low Tech”

Its hilarious to see the powers that be trying to entice students to go into engineering, by talking about it, putting that into the news, even going as far as making MediaCorp shows about it.

Its not so hilarious when you're still a student in the field, or worse a graduating one right now.

One of the most irritating thing that I remember about this issue happened a year or two ago, when some official from the powers that be talked about the salaries of civil servants. I don't remember the exact words, but effectively he talked about "making salaries competitive so that we attract and keep the best talent".

This doesn't sound so bad, until another official went something like "they (people in the science & tech sector) must have a love for the work, it's not just about the pay"....

I can only say, all people are equal.. but some are more equal than others.
